Rescue Me ID: 14-04-02-00526Toby (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected, Aggressive

We adopted an abused Shih Tzu mix from the SPCA, but have found out he is not good with cats or other dogs. We want him to go to a person or family that will train him to address his issues as we love him a lot. We have 5 cats and four other dogs though, and cannot rehome all of them. He is very aggressive when he is chewing on something, and will attack if you try to take it from him. We would also like updates as we are concerned he not be rehomed again as he has been through too much already. We would take him back and try to find another home if you decided not to keep him. That being said, I am being very honest about his issues, and he ... (Read More)will chase and attack cats, and attack you if you try to take something away, and does not get along with other dogs. We need someone that has worked with abused dogs, or someone that knows a trainer who has worked with abused dogs to train him. He needs someone like the dog whisperer as he is that aggressive when he thinks something is being taken away. Now for the good; he is so loveable and snuggly, and is just a great one animal house doggy. He is just so full of love and affection barring the aggressiveness towards other animals and if you try to take something away from him. He is quiet if not around other animals, and is just a great dog other than the aggressiveness. My mother is too old to train him, and cannot drive to take him out to be trained. This is why we are looking for a good home for him with someone who will understand him and get him the help he needs. (Less)
