Rescue Me ID: 14-08-29-00603Gilbert (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

Darling 1.5yo Small Male ShiChi Rescued From High Kill Shelter. Gilbert is a small 9lb black and white mix of Shih Tzu and Chihuahua who is a year and a half old. He is extremely cuddly and loving and was raised with small children. He is NOT good with other animals although he's gotten better about our cat since coming here. I would not trust him with small animals as he is way too interested in them. Gilbert walks well on a leash and is crate trained. He is relearning house manners after living outside for several months. He will need a home willing to continue to work on his housetraining but I believe he will do much better after he ... (Read More)leaves my home because we have had LOTS of foster dogs here over the years and marking is just his way of trying to cover up previous accidents. He's good about wearing a belly band though so that takes his ability to actually pee out of the equation but still having him 100% housebroken so he doesn't have to wear it is the goal. Gilbert was neglected in his previous home and was regulated to living outdoors in harsh weather after the family moved in with other family members who did not want a dog in the house. He was living with his brother but after 2 months of fostering them we have determined that separating them is probably best because working with 2 youngsters who need consistent training is hard work plus they fight for attention and with each other over food and toys. It just seems to make sense. Gilbert is neutered and fully vaccinated. He's a soft little lap boy who loves to snuggle. He is playful but pretty low energy. He's filled out a ton in the 2 months we have had him as he no longer has worms and he's on a good diet of Wellness dog food now. He's good about having his nails trimmed and being brushed. He has an easy care coat. He's just a nice little dog down on his luck who needs someone who will love him like he'd liked to love them. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-02-00159Pinky (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adult Women Only
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Abused/Neglected

He got his name from his adorable pink nose. Pinky's first home was with a older lady who passed. His second home was with her daughter who already had too many dogs and couldnt keep him. His third home was with a elder lady again, and her granddaughter. The elderly lady can not take care of him anymore, having been in the hospital for great periods of time. He is lonely and confused and neglected. He needs a loving home as the only pet, with lots of lap time and take me anywhere love. He loves to be with you and cuddle at night. He is very sweet and only wants security and TLC.

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Introducing Gilbert and Lloyd (yes they were named by a child and yes sadly they knows their names). Gilbert and Lloyd are tiny 6-8lb bundle of Shi-Chi's (Shih tzu/Chihuahua) who are looking for a forever home. They are 1.5 years old, neutered, current on vaccinations, heart worm negative and mostly housebroken. Gilbert and Lloyd became homeless when their family moved from Iowa to Idaho and moved in with family. They were living outside since February which is rough on a guy especially a little ones (we picked them up in June). Their only toys were food cans from the garbage. They are super cuddly and loving. They were raised with small ... (Read More)children and love toys. They are good with other dogs (mostly) but Gilbert can be bossy and jealous of his person. Both love to be on your lap and in your bed. They have a wonderful easy care coat that looks more coarse than if feels and they are low shedding. Cute little bow legged bundles of joy. Walk well on a leash are crate trained and are they are available in Bellingham, WA. They would love to stay together after being through so much together and they are each others best friend so looking for a miracle home. $300 adoption fee for them both will include collars, name tags and their crates. PM me for more info. Home check and adoption contract will be mandatory. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Shih Tzu in Washington
Shih Tzu Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. The Shih-Tzu is a toy breed similar to the Pekingese. Shih-Tzus are proud little dogs and loaded with personality. Shih-Tzus are gentle and do fine with children who are taught to respect the dogs. Shih-Tzus bark to announce people approaching their homes. Shih-Tzus need early obedience training and may require patience when housebreaking. A Shih-Tzu will do just fine in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.
