Snickers is a male Shih Tzu about 3 years old and 9.5 pounds. This cutie is completely house trained and very motivated to learn. A patient adult family would be perfect! I LOVE: My foster parents, going for walks on a leash, riding in the car, and sitting on a lap (when invited). I'm also friendly with other dogs. I THINK: I welcome strangers but am a bit fearful of them touching me. My foster parents are working with me on this but I need some more training (remember, I'm a motivated student). [Read About Natural Seizure Care] Pepper is a very sweet, 13 year old pure bread Shih Tzu. She has cataracts which have left her blind (for the most part), and she is on medicines daily for seizures. Pepper is trained to 'potty pads' (she is an indoor dog). The only reason we are looking for a home for her is that she belongs to my elderly mother, who is moving to a senior living facility and cannot take her with her. (She has two Shih-tzus and is only allowed to take one of them with her...she is on a fixed income and can no longer afford Pepper's medicines.) I already have three animals of my own and cannot take on any additional pets. ... He has been to the teaching hospital to check out his heart and had some fancy tests done and is A-OK! He's about 8-9 years in age and just wants a home where he will be secure. Cocoa is a very sweet little girl who needs a new, calm home. She just turned 7 years old. She is house trained and up to date on all shots. Cocoa weighs just over 10 pounds. She is missing some teeth and requires annual dental cleanings to keep her mouth healthy but is otherwise in good health. Cocoa doesn't mind other dogs but is easily overwhelmed by very active dogs and children. She would do best in a calm home with adults. She likes to go in the car and loves her crate so she would travel well with someone. She is also micro-chipped. Meet Lady! She is a gorgeous 3 year old female shih tzu and faithful companion. Lady was given up to rescue when her people moved. Lady is a quiet, sweet, and somewhat independent girl as she does not have to be attached to your side at all times. She even sleeps in her own bed like a big girl. However she does enjoy the company of her person and would do best in a home where she will not be left alone for long hours. Shih Tzu Dogs can make good pets in Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. The Shih-Tzu is a toy breed similar to the Pekingese. Shih-Tzus are proud little dogs and loaded with personality. Shih-Tzus are gentle and do fine with children who are taught to respect the dogs. Shih-Tzus bark to announce people approaching their homes. Shih-Tzus need early obedience training and may require patience when housebreaking. A Shih-Tzu will do just fine in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.
