|Rescue Me ID: 15-01-27-00038Jackson (male)|
Jackson is an adorable, super playful shih tzu. The perfect home would be one where he is the center of attention. He absolutely loves playing and chasing balls. Jackson sleeps well in a kennel or would be perfectly happy snuggled up beside you. He is most comfortable with someone taking him out to potty on his leash but is fine wandering free as well. He is a sweet, fun-loving dog but he can also be stubborn and very dominant sometimes so he would be a better fit for someone with no children.

|Animal ID: 15-009Dot (female)|
Initial Bio 01/23/15: Hello everyone, I have had a whirlwind week but I want to take a minute and tell you about myself! My name is Dot and my FM says I'm the sweetest 10# yorkie mix ever. I found myself in the care of United Yorkie Rescue about a week ago and although I'm not sure I understand all of the changes I've been through I know I have been getting (and giving) my share of love, and I LOVE to LOVE. My Fur Mom (Daisy) and my Fur Brother (Hershey) are also in UYR foster care. I have never been away from either one of them before but FM says I am adjusting well. I have several foster sibs that keep me entertained and I get along well with all of them. I am a little shy but my FM says that's to be expected for a few days. I went to see the dogtor and she says I'm as near to perfect as they come, perfect weight, normal blood work, strong teeth and HW negative. My favorite things to do include laying on the back of someone's neck while they watch tv and dozing off, playing hide and seek under the covers at bedtime and giving kisses. I am house trained however I need extra encouraging when it is wet out. I was super well behaved at the dogtor and I got 5 stars at the groomers for great behavior. I have also met some young children while here and I am very gentle with them, they get kisses too! If you are looking for a sweet and gentle girl who just wants to be your world then Miss Dot is perfect! If you have any questions please feel free to drop FM an email. (Less)

|Animal ID: 15-007Daisy (female)|
Initial Bio 01/25/15: Daisy is a little yorkie-shih-Tzu mix girl that is being fostered in Grapevine, TX. She weighs 7 pounds and is 5 years old. She and two of her pups, Dot and Hershey, were surrendered to us after their owner passed away. She is a very sweet little girl who seems starved for attention. She loves to sit in your lap and gives such sweet little kisses. She is housetrained and hasn't had a single accident. She is healthy and heartworm negative. She is scheduled to have her teeth cleaned on February 3rd and then she will be ready for her furever home. It would be wonderful if she could be placed with one or both of her pups, but she would probably be okay by herself. She isn't as dependent on Hershey as he is on her. If you would like a very sweet affectionate little girl in your life please drop us an email. (Less)

|Animal ID: 15-008Hershey (male)|
Initial Bio 01/25/15: Hershey is a tiny little 3 year old, 5 pound yorkie-shih-Tzu mix that is being fostered in Grapevine, TX. He was surrendered along with his mother, Daisy, and his sister, Dot. His owner had passed away. He is a very sweet boy that loves to be held and have his tummy rubbed. He has no known health problems and is heartworm negative. He is housetrained except for a little marking which we hope will go away after he is neutered. He has always been with his mother and sister, so he does not like to be alone. It would be wonderful if he could be adopted with one of them, but if not, then he would do better in a home with another little friend to keep him company. Otherwise, I think he would be prone to separation anxiety. He is so small that he cannot be placed in a home with small children. Stay tuned as we get to know him better. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00003Bubbles (female)|
Bubbles is a sweet little Shih Tzu with lots of love to give. Bubbles likes to hang out with people and sleep on fluffy dog beds. Bubbles didn't have a good life before she was rescued, she was very matted and not used to being indoors - it is possible she was only used for breeding and didn't experience much of a life or love. She was very nervous and scared after all the hair was trimmed off of her, we put a Thunder Shirt on her to sooth and keep her warm, she loved it. Bubbles is now living indoors and loves it! She is working on potty training and will go outside if someone goes with her to encourage her and tell her what a good girl she is. She is about four years old, spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, and ready for a home of her own! For more information, please email us! NOTE: We do not ship dogs. We require the adopting family to meet our pets here in Abilene, TX to make sure it is a good match. (Less)

King Solomon is a very sweet dog. Solomon loves people, he loves to sit on your lap and just sleep. He is crate trained and pee pad trained. Solomon is healthy and a very beautiful dog. King Solomon is the one on the right. I would prefer King Solomon and Princess (the one on the left) to go to a home together. They are very close and have been together for the past 7 years. King Solomon is Princess's uncle.

|Rescue Me ID: 15-01-16-00153Princess (female)|
Princess is the one on the left with the red bows in her hair. Princess is so precious, she is a wonderful dog. She loves attention. She is good with all people. She is pee pad trained and crate trained. Princess has both hips dislocated and her left knee cap. When she was 6 months old I took her to get groomed and when I picked her up she had been injured. The groomer said they did not injure her, I took her the vet and he told me that someone must of dropped her. I went back to the groomer and I was told that no one dropped her. Princess isn't in pain, she can't jump up but she does run and play. Princess is a very sweet dog.

|Rescue Me ID: 15-01-02-00350Diamond (female)|
This sweet angel showed up cold and wet, at our door step on Christmas eve. She was wearing country rabies tags so we were eventually able to track down her owner. Sadly, they have discarded her most likely due to her be an older dog and in need of some vet care. She is loving, sweet, well behaved, and house broken. She does appear to have ear and eye infection. Her skin has an odor which i'm guessing she is like most shih-tzu and has skin allergies. I already have 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 3 kids in my home. As much as i would love to keep this sweet heart, i just do not have the resources to get her to the vet. Please help her find a rescue. I know she will be able to bring lots of joy to somebody. She did not deserve to be disgarded by her family like they did. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-12-30-00105Melody (female)|
Although I have only been with my foster mom for a couple of days, she will tell you I am a pretty smart girl. I am starting to understand the concept of the doggie door and go outside when I need to use the restroom. With a bit more practice, I should have it down. I get along very well with my sometimes cranky foster sister. My foster brother and I are pals as long as I stay away from his food. Basically, they are cool, but I enjoy my human foster mom the most. I am a little shy, but I think that will change as I get used to the routine. I've taken a couple walks with my foster mom and she tells me I am very easy to walk. I haven't been around any small humans, but I liked the 15 year old who helped bathe me. I wasn't thrilled with the bath but stood there and now I feel (and look) much better! Update 12/29: She would be a great dog for a family with older kids and / or calm dogs of any size. She's a nervous around commotion. She is VERY easy going though otherwise, haven't heard her bark yet and is so wonderful in the car. Just sits there quietly. Calm gal who seems to care less about the other dogs (but gets along fine with them) and craves human attention. She is mostly house trained. She knows she needs to go outside but it seems she can't figure out how to ask or go out the doggie door. She is great about coming back in the doggie door though. We are working on it :). Melody is a super soft Cairn Terrier/Shih Tzu mix. The shelter had her listed as approx 5 yrs old. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. PUPPIES: Puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application, and if approved, a meeting can be arranged. |Rescue Me ID: 14-12-30-00002Stella (female)|
Meet Stella the cutest little girl around! Stella is a very sweet and mild mannered little 9-10 month old little girl! We believe Stella is a Shih Tzu mix, possibly a Lhasa Apso mix, maybe a mix of both! She doesn't shed much if at all, and is ready for lots of hugs and kisses. Stella has bowed legs in the front and back which causes her to walk a little slower but it doesn't stop her from sitting up on her back legs or following people around! She is a very kind and gentle little girl and would love to be treated like a little princess that she is! She has been spayed, current on vaccines, tested for heartworms, and micro-chipped! This little guy was fending for himself in the streets of a dangerous neighborhood. He was terribly matted and under socialized, at risk of becoming feral with no place to get out of the cold. He is currently getting exposure to new things like the inside if a home, friendly cats, dogs and hugs. He walks fine on a leash and loves to be a lap dog. |Rescue Me ID: 14-09-07-00048MARTINI (male)|
Martini and his girl Mimosa were found on the streets of San Antonio. We couldn't even tell what breed were until they were shaved! But then cuteness and beauty radiated from them. Martini absolutely loves to be loved and held and treated like the special little man that he is. Special you ask? Yes - you see it appears Martini was born with out back feet. He has little nubs but that doesn't stop him from getting around at all. He would probably like a wheelchair if possible. He also needs eye drops for those dark 'I love you' eyes that tend to get a little dry - a trait common for this breed. Martini was heart worm positive and has successfully gone through treatment. They are crate trained and house trained and simply a perfect little couple. Yes - you read that right - they are a couple and are very bonded. They must go together. But they're so small you won't even notice. Please consider giving these two a furever home where they will be cared for, loved and groomed on a regular basis. Martini is neutered and up-to-date on everything. You can see more pictures of this sweet pair at Katies Roadside Rescue at www.krrtx.org. Blessings x 2 on you from Martinia and Mimosa! (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-07-25-00555Winston (male)|
Winston is a cute 25 pound schnauzer mix. He gets along with other dogs, but is much more interested in his humans and would like to be your one and only. Winston loves, loves, loves to chase the ball and play tug-of-war. It has become part of his daily routine and he looks forward to it. Winston is very affectionate, but does need time to build trust and settle into a home and routine. He also loves going on trips and is great in the car. Winston knows sit and speak and does best with structure and with someone who will help keep him stimulated and active. He has the Schnauzer personality and needs someone who is familiar with the breed and can be patient, but firm. He will do anything for a treat and needs a loving home with positive reinforcements. He would be perfect for an active couple that will take him places, or a single person that would enjoy an active companion. He can be transported via United Airlines. Adopter is responsible for transport costs. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-06-03-00629Bentley (male)|
Bentley is very comical, always running, bouncy, and happy. LOVES to tell the world 'Hey I'm here'! He loves hanging out with people and running as fast as he can around the yard chasing his doggie friends or searching for squirrels! We are not sure of his exact breed, he weighs about 19 pounds and is 12 inches tall at the shoulders. He is still young, about 18 months old. Bentley was very matted so we had to have him shaved but it will grow back out. He is VERY handsome and extremely lovable! Once he is comfortable with people he is very playful, loves to climb all over a person and wrestle, he would not be good with small children because of his playfulness. He is crate trained. He does well going outside to potty but accidents can and do happen with all pets. See more pictures and fill out an application form by visiting our website at: www.pawedsquad.com. We do not ship. |Rescue Me ID: 14-05-27-00755Andrew Jackson (Andy) (male)|
I'm Andrew Jackson...Andy for short, and April 14th was my lucky day. That is the day my owner took me to the local animal shelter to surrender me. So how could that be my lucky day? It just so happened they were holding a shot clinic that day and a volunteer of A.R.N.T. was there to have one of their rescues micro chipped. She felt so bad for me cuz it was cold that day and she thought I looked sad and a little scared. She didn't want me to have to stay in a shelter until someone decided they wanted me so she offered to take me into the rescue group. My owner was so grateful that she cried and hugged her. She had rescued me a couple of years earlier and gave me to her grown daughter who got very sick afterwards and passed away. She took me back home with her but her dog did not like sharing with me so she thought it would be best for me to see if the shelter could find me a good home. At first I was a little scared at a new place where there were several other dogs but my foster mom made me feel safe and kept me by her side a lot until I got to know all the other pooches and saw they wanted to be my friend. It took me a while to get up the courage to play with any of them but recently a little extra playful puppy came home with her and she is the type that makes you play with her. At first I didn't want any part of it but I have kinda warmed up to her and began playing with her and even another of the small dogs here. My owner thought I might be a Maltese-Poodle mix but the rescue thinks I am more likely a Shih Tzu-Poodle or Pekinese-Poodle mix because of my eyes and muzzle. I am around 5 years old, vaccinated, heart worm free, micro chipped and neutered. I have come out of my shell quite a bit but my foster mom wants me to go to a home where someone is home part of the day to give me lots of attention so I feel safe in my new home. I have been to a couple of adoption events and I get a little scared when my foster leaves my sight. She thinks I would do good with children who like to love on dogs and know how to interact with small ones. I do have a little bad habit of sometimes marking inside the house but my foster say's that can be corrected. She will want do check out the fence around my new home to make sure it is in good shape so I don't get out and get lost so I can only be adopted to someone who lives in the DFW area. My adoption fee is $200. If you feel you have the kind of love to give that I need, please email ARNT for a pre adoption questionnaire. (Less)

Shih Tzu Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Shih-Tzu is a toy breed similar to the Pekingese. Shih-Tzus are proud little dogs and loaded with personality. Shih-Tzus are gentle and do fine with children who are taught to respect the dogs. Shih-Tzus bark to announce people approaching their homes. Shih-Tzus need early obedience training and may require patience when housebreaking. A Shih-Tzu will do just fine in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.
