Rescue Me ID: 17-04-18-00474Abbey (female)

Shih Tzu    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

I am seeking a new home for my shih tzu, Abbey. I have owned Abbey since she was 7 weeks old and I am currently unable to meet her needs. Her birthday is 3/28/2005 and she weighs 14lbs. She is CKC registered, spayed, microchipped, and has always been heartworm negative. I have vet records from her entire life. She has always been very curious and sweet. Has never bitten anyone. Does not food guard. Walks on a leash well, likes to ride in the car, and will 'beg' for treats. Other than being spayed, she had an umbilical hernia repair and her dewclaws removed. She has always had storm anxiety but in the past year her storm anxiety has gotten ... (Read More)much worse (incontinence issues during storms now). She has medication that she takes daily during the spring and summer. Last vet check-up was February 1, 2017. Labwork (CMP and CBC) was normal. Fecal flotation was negative. Heartworm negative. She takes Sentinel monthly. She has a 3cm lipoma on her chest that is followed by her vet every 6 months, given her age, I chose not to remove it. She had some ear sensitivity and a yeast infection in her ear early in her life. The vet attributed this to a food allergy. She currently eats Blue Buffalo Chicken and Rice. She is a runner so a fenced in yard would be a good idea, if not a necessity. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-04-15-00282Cash (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 3/23/2009 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, health of owner. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted. Weight: 16.3 Height: Estimated 11' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $299.00 Fence needed? No. What kind of home would be best for me? 'I would do well in a quiet, reserved home.' What is my personality like? 'I am the type of dog that affection needs to be worked for and trust should be earned. I do not need to be cuddled up in someone's lap all of the time and I am perfectly content doing my own thing. I spend most of my days curled up in a comfy blanket and napping. I do not know ... (Read More)any basic commands but I do walk well on a leash. Although, I do not care too much for being outside.. I am a lazy boy.' Notes from caregiver- Cash is a laid back lazy guy. He doesn't love going outside and gets pretty snappy with me when I make him. He enjoys being pet but doesn't care for being in my lap or carried around. He seems to do fine with his cottage mates. He doesn't know any basic commands but walks well on a leash. I've been told he will resource guard people after spending longer amounts of time with him. He needs an owner who will respect his personal space. How I act when I first meet new people: 'I do not care for people I do not know very much.' House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 3/20/2009 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-10-00283Lulu of Greenville (female)

Shih Tzu    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 5/9/16 Reason for being in rescue: found as stray in Greenville SC - because of the extent of her medical needs it took a while to raise the money for the surgery she needed Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Lulu has had FHO (femoral head off) surgery on both hips - she also has a bum knee and some back problems. Here are the doctor notes: chronic luxation left and right hip . there is chronic active discospondylitis L2 L3 and old cruciate injury to r knee causing degenerative joint disease. Lulu currently takes rimadyl (a doggie version of Aleve) once per day and a chondroitin ... (Read More)supplement once per day. Her surgery was 1/9/2017 and we went in for her second check up 2/23/2017. Her doctor says she is healing but it is slow. It was a tough surgery. Weight: 10.5 lbs Height: est 9' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Lulu is a quiet girl who is content to watch her world from her pillow or daybed. She needs a home that is not worried about long walks because unless your pushing her in a stroller, that won't work for her. She will always have a bit of a gimp in her walk and so exercise is not part of her life. She would like a home that is quiet and lowkey just like she is. What is my personality like? Quiet, happy, easy, loves to give kisses. She co-exists peacefully with other dogs but is not a 'player.' She's content to be quietly held. How I act when I first meet new people: Inquisitive House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: est birthdate 5/27/2009 but this is just a guess. she is a mature dog Please note - we do not ship dogs. Rescue Me ID: 17-03-01-00071Carter (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Adult

Thank you for your interest in a rescued dog. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total ... (Read More)listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team https://s3.amazonaws.com/imagesroot.rescuegroups.org/webpages/s1576nuscd1tdooy.gif Date into Rescue: 06/02/2016 Reason for being in rescue: Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Carter came in with heart worms. We have treated him for heart worms and he is now heartworm negative! Weight: est 11.7 lbs/ Height: about 12' at shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? no What kind of home would be best for me? Carter would thrive best in a low key home with a patient adopter that will give him time to come around and get comfortable in his new home. He is a very timid dog and would fit best in an adult only home. What is my personality like? Carter is a shy little wallflower. However given enough time, a gentle hand, and lots of love and affection and he will open up his little heart to the right person. He just likes to get to know people before he opens up to them. Once Carter is comfortable, he is a very loving and loyal companion. Carter gets along well with other dogs and having another small dog to show him the ropes and pass the time may help to boost his confidence. A dog like Carter would greatly benefit from lots of one on one time with his adopter and some confidence building training to help him become a more self assured dog. Carter was recently returned due to biting someone in the face. It is believed Carter was extremely uncomfortable with being close to someone else's face which caused him to react in biting. Notes from caregiver- Carter is still as shy as the first day I met him. But he still crawls into my lap anytime I sit down. Face to face makes him the most nervous. I believe having a doggy sibling would make carter more at ease as he's always playing with another playful pup in the yard. He bonds quickly. He loves playing with toys. He ignored the cat. He walks well on his leash. He doesn't need to go to a home with children. Carter has so much gentle love to give he just needs an understanding human. How I act when I first meet new people: Carter is very shy and timid with new people. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
