Rescue Me ID: 15-10-26-00405Max (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Maxie boy is a shitzu, dachshund, yorkie mix. I rescued Max almost a year ago. Max came from a puppy mill and then lived in a home with 2 other dogs for about a month. When he first arrived there he got loose and was outside in the snow for 3 weeks by himself. I rescued him shortly after. I got him and vaccinated him and seen how he was with my older neutered male dog and my toddler. I crate trained him and housetrained him...or at least I thought. He was amazing. I found him a home and they didn't want to give him time to adjust. They never neutered him per contract. And I watched him get shuffled from home to home...about 5 different ... (Read More)homes. I just took him back because I didn't want him shuffled around anymore. Well someone had dropped off another non-neutered male at my house during the time frame Max was gone. I have found that Max does not do well with NON-NEUTERED MALE DOGS. And because he was shuffled so many times he does have some separation anxiety but I have him back crate trained. He NEEDS to be neutered. But Maxie boy is such a lover. He loves to be held like a baby. He is good with my toddler but 2 or more kids might be too much for him. He is still marking because of the other non-neutered male dog in my house. My senior boy is taking a turn for the worse and I never imagined Max wouldn't find his forever home. I need someone who will not give up on him. He is eager to please and willing to learn. He just wants love and attention. He is shaved shorter in the summer....per preference. He will be 3 in January. I'm not asking an adoption fee. But I will be asking for vet references. He deserves his forever home and I know him well enough that I will reserve the right to refuse if I can tell he isn't comfortable. I am requiring that Max be neutered as soon as possible. I will have an adoption contract. This dog is amazing and I want only the best for him and his forever home....a not until we are sick of a dog home. Thank you for your interest in this amazing boy!! He definitely has touched our hearts! (Less)
