Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This sweetheart was found dumped on the side of the road in Arkansas. We are guessing Dory to be between 10-12 weeks old,is about 11 lbs and who knows what breed, besides something with a long soft coat! She has an all around great disposition and would make a great addition to any family. Being very friendly, she loves to play with other dogs and loves all people. Tug, chase, toys are her favorite games and will welcome the attention from anyone to play with her. She loves to climb on your lap for belly rubs and cuddle time, but will also be content going off on her own for nap time. She will need training 101, so previous puppy ... (Read More)experience is a plus. Being treat motivated she has learned sit, and working on come. But, housebreaking, crate training and leash training hasn't begun yet. She is currently using pee pads and with someone all day. Someone will need to be home most of the day to continue her training and socialization. Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered

Pickles family gave him up when they were moving out of the country. He is a very sweet, well mannered boy for the most part. He loves to snuggle and sit in your lap, will follow you around the house, he is obviously accustomed to being someone buddy. He is almost a perfect little guy, except he likes to guard his possessions. He got into the bathroom, unwound the toilet paper(it was quite a game)but then proceeded to guard his new toy from me trying to clean it up. I distracted him with another object, problem solved. But we do think he will need to go to an adult household and one that has previous dog experience. He is 3 1/2 years old, ... (Read More)his adoption fee is $225. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-15-00768Mac (male)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE WITHIN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A CHICAGO SUBURB) WITHIN ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* Howdy! Are you looking for a quiet, couch potato to be your constant companion? I am Mac, and I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I'm a 7 years young, white-and-tan Shih Tzu mix. I weigh about 18 pounds, which is the perfect size for the comfy spot next to you on the couch! I didn't have the best past, but I've put it behind me and am very excited about my future. Just so you know, I was saved from a 'hoarding situation' in southern Illinois. A lot of my friends and I lived outside in crates most of our lives. So I can ... (Read More)be a little shy at first because a lot of the world is so new to me, but I get over it quickly when you come down to my level and talk calmly to me. My foster mom is spoiling me and making up for lost time, so she says I am blossoming very quickly and am a happy little guy! I totally agree; it is SO nice to finally be loved and doted upon! I have chronic dry eye in one of my eyes and my foster mom has been giving me drops to make it feel better. It is amazing how much better I feel now that it's being taken care of. Foster mom can tell you more about the drops I get when you come to meet me. I absolutely love when my foster mom and dad 'baby talk' to me...it makes me so happy and my tail wags a mile a minute when they use that cutesy high-pitched voice to tell me I'm a good boy! And I completely adore my furry friends in my foster home: there are other small doggies and a cat, and I love to follow them around for guidance! It's soothing for me to feel like a part of the pack, and they are very willing to let me be their new shadow. I would love to have a small canine companion in my forever home so if you have another dog looking for a new bestie, let's make it happen! When I think about my forever home, I think I would love it most if it were a quieter home where I can settle in and enjoy the tranquility. Babies and young kids kind of scare me since they are so excited and adventurous (I was young once, too; I get it, but I prefer a more 'peaceful' environment now!), so I would prefer a home without young children. Once I trust my humans, I want to be near them all the time, so if you are home often that would be swell! My foster parents have to go to this place called 'work' and leave me alone for a few hours at a time and I do fine, but it would be lovely to have people home more often than not. Like I said, in my past life I didn't get much human companionship so I want to get as much as I can now! I would also like for my new humans to be kind and patient to help me continue to gain confidence while I get over my shyness. That patience also extends to potty training; foster mom says I'm learning quickly and only have the occasional accident in the house now. I want nothing more than to please my people, so with continued guidance and encouragement I will master it completely soon! If I sound like I could be the sweet, loving forever friend for you, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation today! I have waited so long for a happily ever after, and would love to start it with you as soon as possible! Kisses and cuddles, Mac If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us! Adoption Requirements: *Be at least 21 years of age *Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household *Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease) *Have a valid ID with current address *Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Fetching Tails Foundation *Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment Adoption Fees: Adult or young dog - 6 months to 7 years, $250 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-06-15-00766Cassee (female)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE WITHIN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A CHICAGO SUBURB) WITHIN ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* Hi there! My name is Cassee; I am a shy but very sweet Shih Tzu mix, and I am looking for a forever home through Fetching Tails Foundation with a family that will provide me with the endless love I missed out on for much of my life so far. I am a 7-year-old, 12-pound darling with vibrant orangish hair. Sounds pretty and unique, doesn't it? I think so! And don't let my age fool you: I definitely feel and act younger than what my birthdate would have you believe! Let's get the sad past stuff out of the way, shall we? I was saved from a 'hoarding ... (Read More)situation' in southern Illinois. There were quite a few of us found living outside in the backyard of a house. A couple of my friends and I were very happy when we were saved and then brought to Fetching Tails Foundation to find our real 'happy tails.' I think the past should stay in the past, but it's important for you to know that because of my previous living situation I am a bit shy at first. My foster mom has been showing me lots of love and patience and she says I am quickly coming out of my shell. It's just so nice to be loved and spoiled now and I am soaking it up. I would love a forever home with a person or two who is understanding and easy-going while I learn my way in the world and gain even more confidence. I also currently live with two other dogs (a cavalier and a big Lab!) and I co-exist just fine with them. I'm not a hyper pup so I don't want to play when they do, but I do like feeling like a part of the pack and following them around the house and outside. If you have a calm dog that would let me be his/her shadow, I could be a good fit to be their buddy. And I am a pretty happy and confident girl once I am comfortable! I love jumping up on the couch at foster mom's home and finding the perfect, comfiest spot to rest there. I also enjoy exploring outside. I would love a fenced yard so I can wander around checking out all the awesome outdoorsy scents and smells. I am still learning to walk on a leash, so my free time in the yard is the best part of the day! I'm a very curious girl: I like to check out every nook and cranny inside and out. What can I say? It's fun for me to check out all the new things I haven't seen before! I am also perfecting the art of potty training. Since I love going outside, foster mom says I am learning pretty quickly. My foster mom likes to keep to a schedule and that has helped a lot! I even went to the back door and let mom know I had to go the other day! I am a good listener, and when mom says it's time to 'go outside and go potty' I do what she says! I want to make my person happy, so I am trying my best. If you are interested in adopting a sweet, curious girl who is gaining more confidence every day, please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation as soon as possible. After my past experiences, I don't want to wait any longer than I have to for my 'happily ever after!' Love, Cassee If interested please fill out an application on our website at www.fetchingtailsfoundation.org or if any questions please email us!     Holly is a very loving dog. She is missing some teeth due to age and is prone to ear infections. She wears a doggy diaper due to going in the house on occasion. We believe this is due to jealousy of small children in the home but may be due to age as well. She is purebred and has been overbred so she has an extra toe and an extra rib. The cutest little mutant I've ever seen, though.

*MUST LIVE IN 50 MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT* Hello there! I am Murphy, a pint-sized Shih Tzu, who wants nothing more than to be your best friend. If you are looking for a cute and cuddly 9-pound companion, I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation! I don't mean to brag, but you will for sure fall in love the minute you meet me. Shih Tzus are known to be gentle lions, and that fits me to a tee: I have a handsome lion-like face, adorable black and white non-shedding fluffy fur, and a tender demeanor. I am 5 years old, so I am past my puppy energy and am ready to settle ... (Read More)in as your sweet-tempered companion. I am very easy-going and laid-back. My foster mom says my friendliness toward dogs and humans is such a joy to see: what can I say, I am a social little guy and I enjoy meeting other pups and humans of all ages! And I love nothing more than being loved and going from room to room following my foster family around. Foster mom says I am a perfect gentleman and I must say I agree! I'm a quiet, mellow little dude who enjoys sitting in my person's lap and being pet. I also really love belly rubs, so I hope my forever family likes to dole them out! I have great manners: I am potty trained, crate trained, and walk well on a leash if you want to strut around the neighborhood with me! I like to explore my foster family's yard by sniffing around and feeling the fresh air on my face. I do enjoy a good romp with my foster doggie siblings, too! I would love a forever home with a fenced yard so I can take my time and enjoy my little outdoor adventures at my own pace. When I am all done, I am content to come inside and curl up on a cozy blanket or fluffy dog pillow. I am a love bug who knows when it is time to play and when it is time to chill and relax, and I love to do both! So if you are looking for a canine companion who is a great listener, sensitive, calm and a good family dog, I am waiting patiently for you to come meet me. Please get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails Foundation soon and let them know you are interested in Murphy! If you are ready to give me a lifetime of love, I am ready to give it right back to you!     Max is a very sweet and playful, five-year-old, 14-pound, male purebred Shih Tzu looking for a loving guardian. This fellow is almost blind and diabetic, so he's looking for a dog-lover with the ability to give him loving care and insulin shots every 12 hours. Max is housebroken and crate-trained.
