Rescue Me ID: 15-11-12-00890Luci (female)
Very sweet, smart and playful Luci. She is great with our rescued Himalayan, our children and all adults. Recently treated for Lyme. History of neglect until we adopted her. Unable to housebreak her after over a year. Anxious and phobic 'going out' so she still randomly 'goes' inside. We have tried so hard but can't help her any further. Very sweet girl for someone who is home most of the time and has experience working with these issues. Fenced yard would also possibly help.

Animal ID: RDV606SNICKERS (male)
Snickers adores his human family and enjoys being with them, and likes nothing better than a cuddle. If he should have to decide between undivided attention and a walk in the rain we are truly not certain which he would choose. He is a very happy go lucky energetic little dog that would do well if he had a fenced yard where he can have plenty of outdoor activities several times a day and another dog of his activity level would also be a great companion for him. He would benefit from being able to go on hikes and long walks with an active family. This dog cannot be adopted to Massachusetts residents due to new laws regarding rescue dogs being prohibited from adoption. Please contact Patricia Cabral at: 617-626-1786 or Mike Cahill at: 617-626-1794 for questions regarding what dogs you are allowed to adopt. |Rescue Me ID: 15-10-18-00421Lowell (male)|
Lowell is a rough coated , Shih Tzu mix about 5 years old, 16 lbs. He is neutered and has his vaccines. He came to us as part of a 60 animal hoarder situation. He is quiet and friendly, but in need of a little TLC and leash training. He seems to always expect to be hit, not hugged. Although he seems fine with everyone, we think an adult home might be best, a fenced yard a bonus. Located in Hopewell junction, NY, near Poughkeepsie, his adoption fee is $350.

Rescue Me ID: 15-09-28-00500Lucy (female)
I am fostering Lucy in my home. Her prior owner unfortunately had to go live in a nursing home. Lucy is blind in one eye as the result of a glaucoma condition prevalent with this breed. She is receiving daily anti-biotic ointment to both eyes to prevent inflammation. She also receives medication in her food for unspecified skin allergies and a weekly bath with a medicated shampoo that helps reduce itching. Lucy is cooperative when receiving her medicines and always sweet tempered. She loves to be held and have her belly rubbed and is a complete lady while taking rides in the car. Housebroken, great on leash. She is great with our 7yr old niece and enjoys the company of both our cat and dog. She is not aggressive at all, willing to share toys and even her food with our other pets. Rarely barks except to go outside and is truly a joy. She would be happiest in a home where someone is there during the day who she can cuddle with. I am requesting vet and two person references to ensure Lucy will receive her medical care and plenty of love. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-21-00238Baby Girl (female)
Baby Girl came into our rescue several weeks ago along with Chewy (Coco). She'd been living in an empty apartment in Waterbury that had no heat, electricity, or water - and shaggy doesn't even begin to describe her! She's now cleaned up, clipped, and looking adorable - and she's also looking for a wonderful long-term foster or forever home. Baby Girl and Chewy are seniors - Baby Girl is 14 and Chewy is 12. They're both blind because of glaucoma. They're used to living with each other, and we want to keep them together. So we'd like to find a wonderful foster or forever family who can welcome them together into their home. Both dogs are great with other dogs - in fact they gain confidence from other sighted dogs and get around just fine when in their company - and also with children and cats. Baby Girl has one eye that has some fluid building up behind it as a result of the glaucoma and our vet continues to evaluate whether medical intervention is needed. At 14 years old, if he can avoid putting her under anesthesia he'd prefer to do that. Otherwise, these two pups are amazingly healthy and still have a little pep in their step! Let's find Baby Girl and Chewy a totally awesome retirement home! They deserve lots of love and cuddles, and a place to relax and feel safe in their golden years! If they are adopted, we will only consider adopting them as a bonded pair and the adoption fee will be reduced. For more information please email: firstname.lastname@example.org (Less)

Shih Tzu Dogs can make good pets in Connecticut if they match your IifestyIe. The Shih-Tzu is a toy breed similar to the Pekingese. Shih-Tzus are proud little dogs and loaded with personality. Shih-Tzus are gentle and do fine with children who are taught to respect the dogs. Shih-Tzus bark to announce people approaching their homes. Shih-Tzus need early obedience training and may require patience when housebreaking. A Shih-Tzu will do just fine in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.
