Rescue Me ID: 15-04-26-00165Georgia (female)

Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Georgia is as cute as a button. Shih-Tzu and terrier mix little girl. We cannot see any terrier in her, but we were told by the owner that she was, so we are going on that. The owner surrendered her to us, due to her wanting to play a tad too much with the older dog in the home. (Happy to know that there are people out there yet, that realize that the older dog carried the rights to live there over the new one...) She is soooo adorable, that her coal black long fur, with jet black eyes, a black button nose, tiny splashes of white stands of hair in her face.. up against the super white teeth is totally adorable. She loves being held, and ... (Read More)loves play time. Learning the doggy door, and knows the potty pads, she is definitely a charmer. She is approx. 6 months old, weighing in at 7.5 lbs, she has her Rabies shot, spay and up to date with immunization shots... just needing to be micro-chipped before her forever home. Her adoption fee is set at $250.00 (Is Georgia on your mind?) The 1st step to adopting any of our dogs is to fill out an application by going to our website. www.azrain.org. Click on Dog Interest form. Complete it and click submit. Your application stays on file with us for 90 days, in the event you are not chosen to adopt the dog you filled out the application for. Please don't email us, if you haven't filled out an application 1st. We do not bring our small dogs to adoption events, because #1) they are normally scared to death and very nervous, not knowing what's going on with the many people coming up to the pens and hovering over them. Many shiver and shake with the unknown. #2) People adopt on impulse when they see a particularly cute dog/puppy. When they are adopted on impulse, reality sets in with in the 1st month of adopting it. Oh, this puppy ate the leg off my chair, I can't have that!, or You said this dog was house trained and it pees all over;. . . and then in many cases they are returned to rescue. #3) When people have to fill out a form 1st, and read all the questions about the care of a dog/puppy, they see that there are many aspects to adopting a family member, that they may not of thought of. They also realize that it is a life time commitment. The application Is done prior to adopting, so the family understands the seriousness and responsibilities of ownership. We have applications available at 2840 W Chandler Blvd. (At Petsmart, in the Lowes shopping center). It is located at the 101 and chandler blvd. OR, you can go to our website and get one, then email back to us at info@azrain.org OR, hand deliver it to us on Saturdays at our Donation Table we have set up, right of the front door of Petsmart. Volunteers run the table every Saturday from 10am-2pm. They will make sure it gets to the correct Dept. Many Thanks! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are a 501c3 non profit Rescue. R.A.I.N. Rescue (Rescuing Animals in Need). ** ALL OF OUR PETS ARE: micro-chipped, (cats are feline Leukemia tested), up to date on immunization shots, spayed/neutered and dogs are current on Rabies shot.. The dogs/puppies are taken off the website with in 48 hrs of being adopted, SO if you see one that interests you, plz fill out an application. IN THE EVENT you do not get the dog or cat that you are applying for, your application will stay on file for 3 months. If you find another pet with RAIN Rescue that you are interested in, (within the 3 month period), just call or email us and tell us the name of the pet and that you have previously filled out a consultation form, and which one you are currently interested in. We will pull your application for the specific dog. ** Just a reminder: we are all volunteers...we all have jobs outside from our volunteer job at the Rescue. We are sorry that we will not make a special time and place to meet you without a consultation application done up. We are able to weed through many applications with out taking too much time. Shih Tzu Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Come meet Sasha this Saturday at the Lake Pleasant Petsmart from 10-3 located at 25372 N Lake Pleasant Peoria, Arizona 85383. If not adopted Saturday he will be at Trendy Pet and Rescue on Sunday from 12-4, located inside of Scottsdale Fashion Square on the second floor between Dillards and Macys. 480 429 1180. If adopted prior to the event, the listing will be removed. Wow..what a history we have had with this young lady. Sasha is about 5 years old, 18lbs, and has been through a LOT since coming to our rescue in July of 2014. First--she had horrible eye ulcers requiring major surgery. After surgery she required drops for about 3 ... (Read More)months, but her eyes are now all healed up. She had a cluster of seizures--so we rushed her to the vet--every test was done, bloodwork, observation--but findings were inconclusive. Over the next few months she had a few more seizures--but they seemed to be excitement induced-if she would get really riled up she'd start barking, then the barking would increase, she'd start running like a mad woman--then have a seizure. As time went on, the seizures stopped, the running/barking episodes became less frequent, they are now just short (a minute or less) of barking--she goes under the table, then she is fine. She was left with a permanent 'twitch'. Her left leg twitches regularly when she is awake. It does not slow her down at all--it just looks like she has the hiccups. When fast asleep, it's almost completely gone. She likes to run and play with the other dogs in her foster home, she can be a bit bossy, but she is not aggressive. She is SO affectionate, is a total lap dog,and loves to lay on your lap, belly up, snoring, so you can scratch her tummy. Sasha is a wonderful gal who has been through the school of hard knocks and now deserves her forever family! Rescue Me ID: 15-02-28-00363Tank (male)

Shih Tzu Mix

Health: Neutered

Tank is a very sweet dog and is good with children. He is neutered, current on vaccinations and micro chipped. When Tank smiles, he lights up the room and your heart. He enjoys sitting by his person and being cuddled. Tank came to Luv of Dogz in November 2013 as an owner-surrender due to a change in their living situation. He was almost immediately adopted by a nice couple. Unfortunately, the husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and recently moved to an assisted living facility. Sadly the family can no longer care for Tank. Six months ago, Tank lost the use of his hind legs. He had paralysis similar to a slipped disk. He was ... (Read More)immediately prescribed Prednisone and within 3 days regained the use of his legs. Tank's hind legs are still a bit weak and we are now careful not to let him jump on furniture etc. He has little doggy steps to get onto the sofa and beds which work well. Tank still behaves like any normal dog would, particularly when it's time for meals and to go out! He does tire easily and can only go on short walks currently. When he needs a rest while walking Tank will tell you by stopping and sitting for a short while. Tank's needs a family to give him unconditional love and keep him forever and to provide for him should the paralysis return. There is no absolute answer to this. One of our volunteers had a dog with the same paralysis about 2 years ago. Today he attends agility training and is fully active. If you would like to meet Tank and pursue his adoption, please return the application form. (Less)
