Meet Bonnie..(photos are of her when she was surrendered to us. updated photos will come once her beauty parlor appt is complete!) If you are familiar with this awesome breed...I won't need to say too much. Bonnies story isn't as awesome though. She was found wandering the streets with another Shih Tzu male (whom we have named Clyde). After numerous attempts to find their owners, the people contacted our rescue to see if we could home them. *Our 1st hope, is that they can be together..that a loving family is willing to take 2 lover Shih-tzus into their home. Because these two DO NOT SHED, and they truly love each other, we are making this ... (Read More)our TOP priority. We do understand that after time, if this miracle doesn't happen, they will need to be separated so they can live in a forever home and be loved by their "family". Clyde is a bit bigger than Bonnie (approx. 8 lbs, and Bonnie is a tiny 6 lbs). Bonnie is not being adopted out at this time until we have a clear health check done on her. We are taking applications on this "Pair". BOTH babies are super sweet and cuddly. According to the vet, Clyde is approx. 1.5 yrs old and Bonnie is approx. 3.5 yrs old. Bonnies adoption fee is set at $225.00 She is spay, micro-chipped, current on Rabies shot. If you have any questions please contact us at 480-628-5058.     $300 adoption donation Meet ZOE!!! This pint sized princess was rescued from the shelter in horrible shape....matted, filthy, just had a litter, and was pregnant AGAIN. All this, and she is barely a year old. Well her luck has changed--she was spayed, vaccinated and given a deluxe day at the spa. What a difference!!!! She is the most playful, silly, loving, goofy happy pup! She is only 7lbs, and would be best in a home with a playful dog her size and older kids (she loves everyone, but is still very mouthy like a puppy and likes to bite ankles and fingers.     Please help Fabio! Fabio's surgeries are scheduled for Wednesday 7/2, and he sure could use help with his impending veterinary bills. We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE as allowed by law. Fabio came to us from the county shelter, he was turned in as a 'stray' and because of his age and medical needs, was immediately placed on the euthanasia list. Fabio is a 10-ish year old shih tzu who has obviously been medically neglected his entire life. He was not neutered, had a mouthful of rotten teeth, a heart murmur--and worst of all, his eyes are completely damaged from untreated dry eye. Along with many ... (Read More)rotten teeth, both of Fabio's eyes will need to be removed. While we had hoped to do surgery right away, we needed to wait a week--and put him on some antibiotics for his skin infections--infections from the matting pulling and ripping his skin, causing sores and scabs. Fabio's prognosis, once surgery is done, is GREAT!!! He gets around wonderfully, loves all the dogs and cats in his foster home, he has learned that outside is a place to potty--and not live--he is the nicest, sweetest, most gentle boy who deserves the care and love he has been denied his entire life. Please consider helping this sweet boy.     THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING: PIPPIN'S STORY: Pippin Pickles was found abandoned in a box when she was just 3 weeks old. She was malnourished and very sick. I took her to the vet and she was given a small chance to live. She was put on meds and I bottle fed her and cared for her round the clock.. She had a fight in her to stay alive, and she will now be 3 years old in December. She pulled though, but not without some complications. She was diagnosed as having some brain injury (Either by being sick at such a young age or possible by trauma from whom ever left her in the box). But she has some temperament issues that can be difficult for ... (Read More)some, and she isn't the best fit for all. But she is a wonderful, loving, eager to please, sweet dog for a patient person. Pippin does not like other dogs or cats. She will fight with them on a large scale, and will fight until injuries occur. She also barks and growls at strangers (adults and children alike); but if you are patient enough with her, she will warm up to you and be the most loyal and loving dog anyone could ask for. She absolutely hates being kenneled; and prefers to be put in a room/area and baby-gated so she can run around. She is toy/food aggressive (She has never bitten me or my daughter, but has nipped at my mother when she tried taking her toy away. I can even take toys out of her mouth and she is okay- just will not be okay with strangers, or people she deems 'below' her in rank) She gets along wonderfully with me and my 10 year old daughter; and loves to spend her time at night going between my bed and my daughters to snuggle up to us. She will curl up next to you on the couch and be the happiest pup in the world. If it was possible for me to keep her, I would. she's been my baby for these last 3 years, and I cannot bear to just give her to just any stranger (or worse, send her to a pound because she would immediately to be put to death) - thus why I am trying to find just the right fit for her. I will keep her with me until we can find the right person. I know that given the right fit/person, she can make someone VERY happy for a long time to come. She will come with a wide variety of toys, a bed, blanket, leash, harness, any food I have, puppy pads, various items. Info: *3 years old *Breed: Mix breed- Lhasa Apso, Shit Tzu and Miniature Pinscher (Has DNA test paperwork with breed breakdown). Her fur can get pretty long and shaggy, but I cut it (myself-she wouldn't go to a groomer's) in a shorter style. I also trim her toenails myself. Her regular vet can also do it, and I would recommend that whomever gets her take her to them as they have been around pippin since she was found and know her well. *Pippin IS microchipped *Pippin IS spayed *Pippin needs to get booster shots, but that notice was just emailed a week ago- I will get her into her regular vet for her booster shots. *Pippin must be the only other pet *Pippin would do well in an adult home only *Pippin knows how to walk on a harness and leash- but I usually do this while no other dogs are being walked. *Pippin is puppy pad trained as well as outdoor potty trained. She prefers to go outdoors, but will use a puppy pad if needed. **If you are able to help out by loaning a lap for Pippin, maybe you are retired, Need a loyal CUTE friend, have a quiet home, and want to help give Pippin Pickles a safe & loving home, please contact:JaymeY313@aol.com OR 480-628-5058 Pippins Adoption fee will be determined by the owner. _____________________________ General R.A.I.N.     Shih Tzu Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Shih-Tzu is a toy breed similar to the Pekingese. Shih-Tzus are proud little dogs and loaded with personality. Shih-Tzus are gentle and do fine with children who are taught to respect the dogs. Shih-Tzus bark to announce people approaching their homes. Shih-Tzus need early obedience training and may require patience when housebreaking. A Shih-Tzu will do just fine in an apartment if it gets enough exercise.

Shih-Tzu means Lion Dog in Mandarin. Shih-Tzus are descended from Lhasa Apsos bred with Pekingese. Paintings of dogs resembling Shih-Tzus exist dating back to the sixteenth century. Shih-Tzus were popular with Chinese royalty. Chinese did not allow Shih-Tzus out of the country until the 1930s.
